We met up with Rick Marshall at the Driffield & Yorkshire Kite festival where he was keen to show off his bed of nails act and promote his love of helping local charities.
With Rick raising nearly ‚£150k since November 2010 it was clear he loved and performed his act to a lot of people at a lot of events. He came across very genuine, honest and a man that only wanted to help others. If you can help Rick raise funds or even make the task of attending events a little easier by donating something‚ for Rick please get in touch with him.
Rick Marshall or The ¢â‚¬ËœPrince of Nails¢â‚¬â„¢, started helping charities because of his late uncle Leo Wilson from Scarborough. Leo called himself ¢â‚¬ËœThe Gypsy Strong Man¢â‚¬â„¢ and raised funds for St Catherine¢â‚¬â„¢s Hospice.
When Leo past away leaving his charity memories and a old rusty bed of nails to Rick, Rick wondered what he could do with ¢â‚¬Å“a rusty old board¢â‚¬. Leo was to feature on BBC¢â‚¬â„¢s Look North for “Children in Need” and they asked Rick to appear on behalf of Leo. A new bed of nails were in need and with a kind donation from Henry Shaw Fixings of‚ Halifax and installing 1000 nails Rick had a brand new bed just in time for Children in Need. He then made his first appearance on Look North and after this Rick began raising funds for Viking FM¢â‚¬â„¢s Cash for Kids and took part in several challenges.
Rick at the time was working as a local dog handler, but due to medical problem¢â‚¬â„¢s Rick regrettably had to give that work up. Rick had a pacemaker fitted and decided he wanted the community to have something back and decided to do as many fundraising events as possible to raise funds for anybody needing help.
So if you are a local charity or not for profit organisation and would like the Rick The ¢â‚¬ËœPrince of Nails¢â‚¬â„¢ to attend an event on your behalf, please contact him.
