The Newland Avenue International Festival 2010, is in it’s 4th year, and celebrates Hull¢â‚¬â„¢s growing rich cultural andwill have involved over 40 different ethnic community groups. The Newland Avenue International Festival will be held in different venues of Newland Ave including bars, clubs cafƒ©s, council offices and even some community buildings. The Newland Avenue International Festival has been organised by a spread of ethnic minority community groups known as International Heart of Hull.
Monday 05 July:‚ Parade
With more than 20 ethnic communities dressing in their traditional clothing:
Starting at 4 pm from Newland Building (former Newland Primary School), ending at the Community Enterprise Centre for a Cultural Evening,
Tuesday 06 July:‚ African Evening
With music, dance, tradition, exhibition of handicrafts and samples of traditional food delivered by a variety of African communities
Starts at 5 pm @ Newland Building (Newland Avenue and Reynoldson Street)
Wednesday 07 July:‚ Indian Evening
With music, dance, tradition, exhibition of handicrafts and samples of traditional food plus henna painting, saris and much more from the Asian subcontinent.
Starts at 5 pm @ the Community Enterprise Centre (Cottingham Road)
Thursday 08 July:‚ Latin Flavour
Spanish and Latin American Communities celebrate their cultural heritage with salsa dance, exhibition of traditional artefacts, samples of food and much more of the colourful Latin American traditions.
Starts at 5 pm (venue tbc)
Friday 09 July:‚ Fashion Show
Ethnic communities displaying the colourfulness and variety of their traditional clothing with a unique combination of tradition, culture and fashion.
Starts at 6:30 pm @ the Community Enterprise Centre
Saturday 10 July:
Polish Cultural Morning @ St Mary¢â‚¬â„¢s College (Cranbrook Avenue) from 10am to 12 noon
Exhibitions of Muslim and Turkish Culture @ the Community Enterprise Centre, Cottingham Road from 12 noon to 4pm
The Russian Exhibition of Culture and Tradition @ the Community Enterprise Centre, Cottingham Road From 4 pm to 7pm
Russian Disco From 7:30 pm till late (venue tbc)
Sunday 11 July:‚ International Food Fair and Bazaar
Starts at 12 noon @ the Community Enterprise Centre
Food samples from around the world open and free to everyone. Enjoy this cosmopolitan day!
