Valerie: Hi everyone! Welcome to Humber.tv. You are watching the head to toe section. Today, I am interviewing Trish Patton of Trish Patton Coaching. She is a transformational coach. You may be wondering why in a head to toe that we head to health new section, we are interviewing transformational coach. Well, as you know, it¢â‚¬â„¢s not only the physical part of body, which is according to keep vibrant and healthy that also a stinking, thinking. The more we can get the stinking thinking, like the alter urge[00:45] is getting stinking thinking out there, the more you can have good thoughts and then it¢â‚¬â„¢s like whole think, you attract what you are. So, Trish Patton, from Trish Patton Coaching, welcome.
Trish Patton: Thank you! Thank you!
Valerie: So, Trish, tell us what is actually transformational coaching?
Trish Patton: Okay, Valerie, transformational coaching is actually working with the way that people think as oppose to what people do, that is more performance coaching, but transformational coaching is what can be with the mind and as you will see it, if you have got healthy mind, you have got healthy body because right now, the both work hand in hand.
Valerie: So you really believe, like whether the thoughts actually manifest in physical?
Trish Patton: Yeah! Your thoughts manifest in your physical and transformational coach actually goes way back and the core transformational coaching is actually based on under perceptions. And your perceptions you probably have this fillers in the bin. Have you heard about the fillers of it?
Valerie: It is like when you see something, I will see something differently and also in this life here I see the window and I see the bright sky and somebody else looks at the same window and they do see something pretty different.
Trish Patton: They will see the thing that¢â‚¬â„¢s most attracting them to that window and you will see the thing that¢â‚¬â„¢s most attracting you. Now, what we do is your perceptions affect your behavior and it¢â‚¬â„¢s your behavior that affects your results in life and your results will be either good or bad.
Valerie: So, it¢â‚¬â„¢s everything from mind, so you just say to your mind, my thinking, my filters actually relates all down the line to get attracted to what I get to matter,
Trish Patton: To your results. Now, what happens is your fillers actually comes from your past and your past being your past experiences, your beliefs, your cultures, just everything that get done from what you have been taught when you were a child. You are actually holding that still in your fillers. So, the fillers are actually lying here subconscious. So, what actually has happened here, you have got these fillers and you don¢â‚¬â„¢t even know that you have got these fillers? So, therefore, what transformational coaching does actually shakes these fillers up and then gives you a choice to actually say, ¢â‚¬Å“hey, I am going to keep this filler or your best pal is just not doing good at all and I just want to get rid of it¢â‚¬, but the thing is if you don¢â‚¬â„¢t know you¢â‚¬â„¢ve got in first place, then how can you actually say, I have got the choice to either keep up or get rid of it.¢â‚¬ So, that¢â‚¬â„¢s where the transformational coaching comes under.
Valerie: So, you actually can show your chitchat to somebody and you can pin-point this is, like who are you to say that this is not holding it.
Trish Patton: Transformational coaching is completely nondirectional. I don¢â‚¬â„¢t tell you. We don¢â‚¬â„¢t tell what you think. We just do various techniques and there is a lot question within the techniques.
Valerie: So, we would come to see you. What sort of, what like you know, suppose somebody is watching this and then they go oh and ah then you know then they used to goggle, up give, go its not interesting. [3:57]. What sort of person comes to see you?
Trish Patton: The sort of person that would come to see me would be a person that wants to move from where they are now to where they want to be and then actually find themselves stuck because coaching actually traditionally means movement from one place to the other. Coach-coach that is a transportation system.
Valerie: Yeah, Yeah. But.
Trish Patton: Transformational coaching works more with the mind and it did not mean, it is more sustainable because when you change the way of thinking, then that should meet a quarterly change in your thought pattern and you have worked with things you did not know nor did fillers and your subconscious. Now, the subconscious is so, so lazy. It is a lazy thing that¢â‚¬¦So, I will just stay where I am because I am lazy and¢â‚¬¦
Valerie: So, that is why we subconscious too, which I have it. I think is has happened.
Trish Patton: Your fillers are habits. Your perceptions are habits and when you have got habit, you don¢â‚¬â„¢t know you are doing it with somebody else, like I could and ask you questions or may be not as you do something and ask you why you would say something in this manner or how is that related to that and how did you conclude that and what impression does that give you and how could you perceive that situation and then you come with that realization, I have got a feel, I don¢â‚¬â„¢t really think I want anymore.
Valerie: So, you are telling me you look at the window and I see the great sky, so that¢â‚¬â„¢s I could be called as a pessimist. So could you actually change what my filter like seeing great sky, when I look out of widow to change that type, I actually see, I have a different who like filters when I look out of the window and I see it¢â‚¬â„¢s raining.
Trish Patton: That¢â‚¬â„¢s exactly, you can¢â‚¬â„¢t change physical fact as the sky is grey unless you call it black. Well, I would believe if you tell me the sky is tight, so, got to do with perception, but you are 100% right. We could talk in the way that makes you look to at a different direction to see what actually the grey sky is there. That may mean to other people, I could actually see and I have got say and I am really, really lucky, so therefore when I look at that grey sky, I feel lucky.
Valerie: Yeah!
Trish Patton: So, you are reframed by a grey sky.
Valerie: Into a positive statement.
Trish Patton: Except a statement that is working for you. My stator say, ¢â‚¬Å“Oh! This is good.¢â‚¬ You could change and it is something that¢â‚¬â„¢s actually going to work for you.
Valerie: So, then, what we do, go to filter here a little into creating this behavior, but now change in the behavior to go backwards to change the filter. Is it how really it is?
Trish Patton: Of thoughts and behavior to me, the work is one, because my aim in life is to have your internal thoughts and feelings and true alignment with external thoughts and behaviors.
Valerie: Oh, that¢â‚¬â„¢s a good one.
Trish Patton: That¢â‚¬â„¢s a huge one, because I [laughing] that¢â‚¬â„¢s doing, but its just baby steps to get in real and when you can have your thought and behaviors in alignment, then you can truly say, ¢â‚¬Å“Well actually, I am internally satisfied.¢â‚¬ And it¢â‚¬â„¢s the gap between the two, that you say, ¢â‚¬Å“Oh, that¢â‚¬â„¢s something; it¢â‚¬â„¢s just not working¢â‚¬ and often we believe on. Well, it¢â‚¬â„¢s a factor and I don¢â‚¬â„¢t want too much in life and anyway we become 30 then when you become, may be I want to become 20 and you are always blame on something else and you are 50, ¢â‚¬Å“oh, gosh! I am getting old wrinkles and I want to, It goes on and on and on. Well, some of the basic fact has just we can get it to blame, because we are all human and we are all created the same.
Valerie: That¢â‚¬â„¢s right. Trish, we are just going to have a short break. You are watching head to toe show on Humble.tv. I was talking to Trish Patton of Trish Patton coaching. Talk to you soon.
Valerie: Welcome back everyone. You are watching Humble.tv. I am Valerie Francis and its head to toes. We have got Trish Patton from Trish Patton coaching. She is a transformational coach and what I actually been taking about changing of filters that if you created when you were young to that created behavior in your life and this we are wondering one really in, you know like, you are saying that some people are in their 20s they think that are too young to change and a very common one people said, ¢â‚¬Å“Ah! I am an angry person, that¢â‚¬â„¢s how I am.¢â‚¬ Oh, yeah. All I could have said that, you feel stands alike, so stubborn person like, I am stubborn person. That¢â‚¬â„¢s their reality to themselves and if they are correct, they are having behavioral responses from the people situations in their life that they don¢â‚¬â„¢t want because of this thinking pattern. Can you [9:36] in this regard, I can see [9:38] they come to somebody like you [9:39] I am an angry person because that¢â‚¬â„¢s who I am and I am always going to be an angry person.
Trish Patton: I think one thing turn to stand here is well; if somebody is an angry person; if it¢â‚¬â„¢s working for me, then that¢â‚¬â„¢s okay.
Valerie: But if you think the results they are not happy with.
Trish Patton: That¢â‚¬â„¢s the question you must ask.
Valerie: That¢â‚¬â„¢s the question.
Trish Patton: If somebody is angry, who is to say that¢â‚¬â„¢s positive or negative because the rules in life for everybody on journey, but there¢â‚¬â„¢s an appropriate behavior and sometimes getting anger can be quiet appropriate. But the question still remains as there is something blocking you from getting who you actually want to be and if that¢â‚¬â„¢s a case then you would go and see me in a transformational coach talk to transformational coach because also transformation of coach is as a completely sacred intervention from your psychotherapy, from your mentadent, from your training. So getting coaching is like a new type profession. It¢â‚¬â„¢s very new
Valerie: So bloody fully new
Trish Patton: Yeah. Before there was a movement called the human development movement and that was in the 1960s, but because it was too much scientific data to backup the thoughts of that movement, but nowadays, it can actually be proven that thoughts can be recorded. I mean it has used a lot of sport coaching. I think its origin is a sport. I mean, with the athletes at least go through coaching and they go through run in that race and they made and there has been experiments stunt with by the people who have actually, physically run the race and the people that that I have put it in the mind and run in the mind. That is also being pretty much compatible. So, your thought can now be measured and it¢â‚¬â„¢s got a wavelength. So, know that, that movement may be was too young then, people didn¢â‚¬â„¢t really understand it, but the mind now is becoming a tangible tool of measurement.
Valerie: Yeah, the criterion was only about with your whole natural the first time in the move. I think when Armstrong said, he said, ¢â‚¬Å“Just like a practice because they practice and practice, met the whole and instill in them and that sort of technology hidden for that was not a accessible tool to the general public and now, you are saying now, it¢â‚¬â„¢s now more accessible and I was actually proven how it is not just in that situation like you land on the moon, but actually you know its an interaction with just people and I guess if I can make your interaction with your partner, your people at work, your kids. It¢â‚¬â„¢s a whole, that¢â‚¬â„¢s a lot more accessible.
Trish Patton: Yeah, and you are right in what you say, some people say, ¢â‚¬Å“well, this is me and that¢â‚¬â„¢s how I am.¢â‚¬
Valerie: Yeah.
Trish Patton: That¢â‚¬â„¢s also okay if you are happy how you are, then that¢â‚¬â„¢s great and then you get people who will say, ¢â‚¬Å“I am angry, but actually I don¢â‚¬â„¢t like it¢â‚¬
Valerie: Yeah
Trish Patton: Then that¢â‚¬â„¢s for transformational coaching can implement because then we could explore some connections to why you are angry and what you are caring for what that you don¢â‚¬â„¢t know because as we spoke about era. You learn a lot of these things you beliefs and your values that can be well intact and by the time you are eight years old.
Valerie: Well so we are doing something thats really, that could be completely wrong with the reception when you are eight year old. When you could do that thing on your own
Trish Patton: No it¢â‚¬â„¢s not that Valerie. What actually, what we are basically doing is we are in a big grown up body and we get in our size and perceptions and sometimes the value that we learned from when we were young are really valuable. Its all for the positive, its all for the learning and we have got these bounds that something that we have got finds and beliefs. We don¢â‚¬â„¢t often change your values. Values are often diverted.
Valerie: So what you class as a value
Trish Patton: Value is actually you run your life you are governed by your values but your beliefs can change when you want it to. Change of beliefs. Value is for example- honesty, integrity, wisdom that¢â‚¬â„¢s a value. A belief is something that you say yes to.
Valerie: So I guess that if you can use an analogy is that the values are like the legs of the table and then your belief is the top of the table. As you said that the top of the table can change but the legs of the table is what keeps that.
Trish Patton: The beliefs could be the specs on the table or the cups and saucers on the table which we can take them away from them and often beliefs are valuable. The work and in the time [14:57]
Valerie: So you are working more than you are working on people¢â‚¬â„¢s beliefs.
Trish Patton: Beliefs and values and behaviors because of all length and this is where most people don¢â‚¬â„¢t succeed and they say right I am taking on a new value, not a value sorry I am taking on a new belief or a new behavior.
Valerie: So it is like all the New Year resolution?
Trish Patton: Yeah. A new year resolution is sometimes you can say right I am definitely gonna give up chocolate like I did yesterday. I am getting more chocolate. My mind actually doesn¢â‚¬â„¢t believe it yet because it has happened. So it is in the subconscious so to my behavior right now I am not going to picking up my chocolate and move from that door man through. There are some consciousnesses still saying right. There is that chocolate go and pick it up so it¢â‚¬â„¢s got to be in my conscious mind not to pick that chocolate I want it. It¢â‚¬â„¢s difficult and this is what most New Year resolutions do. It¢â‚¬â„¢s in most conscious transition phase from getting a new behavior from your conscious mind to your subconscious mind and that¢â‚¬â„¢s¢â‚¬â„¢ the purpose of changing your behavior to match your thoughts.
Valerie: So that you will do is the same like a subconscious mind is lazy it¢â‚¬â„¢s a habit. That¢â‚¬â„¢s you who did with tackling with something that¢â‚¬â„¢s really you got to be focus. You know that¢â‚¬â„¢s thing.
Trish Patton: Do you know that subconscious mind completes conscious mind. The conscious mind is like a grain of sand and the subconscious mind is a beach and they are fillers in your conscious mind.
Valerie: So we are generally the beach.
Trish Patton: Yes the beach
Valerie: Right. Tricia let¢â‚¬â„¢s just have a break. Every one you have been watching Trish Patton of Trish Patton coaching a transformational coach at Humble.tv. See you soon. [Music]
Welcome back to head-to-toes. I am interviewing Trish Patton of Trish Patton coaching. Trish Patton is a transformational coach and we just talked about how you can use transformational coaching as part of your you know individual life as a person, but you also go to companies too.
Trish Patton: Actually no.
Valerie: their whole structured, individuals so that
Trish Patton: Yeah. Although they even did, you have given to people. The amount of what context that ends. They can add a lot of work in organizations and it¢â‚¬â„¢s basically people; so the rule is the same, the models are the same, the environments is different. And people could if you are accompanied and you are directly in competition with another company. You got the same product. You got the same price. You got the package and it¢â‚¬â„¢s all the same then can truly make a difference is the people that I choose. Because if you think about what we spoke about early, if the people in the organization and business they work, we can feel is that they don¢â‚¬â„¢t know what they have got.
Valerie: What happens like you know, what I get as an individual that they come to you and say okay this person make me upset all the time and you got well there is nothing you can do about that. This person you gonna change your own like your own reaction and you are behaving to it. Like in an organization I have said that the head boss and he or she is said oh this is how I am. They just have to accept it. Like how do you deal with that, that is actually causing very negative work place environment.
Trish Patton: While you talking about in teams and the work place because that is basically people working together. You can pass that as a team or just people interacting. They are not concerned a communication. You can communicate on one wave length and if that person isn¢â‚¬â„¢t receiving on the same wave length as your transmitting; you are not communicating.
Valerie: Oh so that means you can¢â‚¬â„¢t talk in different language
Trisha Patton: You may as well talk in different languages because it¢â‚¬â„¢s like two different radio stations, two different TV stations. One is getting transmitted and the other was not getting received. And a lot other time in organizations, communications is key. Communications is an acceptance because we are all individuals and that person is rubbing you up the wrong way, not because of their stuffs, it is because of your stuff and once we know if somebody is rubbing you up, I will always say and I will stick with this, if somebody is rubbing you up the wrong way, thank for it, because they are giving you something to work on.
Valerie: Oh, but sometimes people got like you are thinking them nice, so they, they would like to have this eerie, or you got negative things. Sometimes you know
Trish Patton: Oh! You¢â‚¬â„¢ve got choice as well. Do you have to be with that right person.
Valerie: So, I was like thinking of ways I can look away or always looking in the negative side.
Trish Patton: Because might be they are cultured picking their noses is quite. I mean I have been in Japan and they make a hell of a loud noise when they are eating. Its slip and that is not seen as; so culture up just thing basically about understanding people¢â‚¬â„¢s cultures, understanding and acceptance is really the key and end of work place, you will get conflict. It does happen, but when you can understand that, that person is emotionally doing this upsetting you, think positive and spend on that person¢â‚¬â„¢s who they are because of the past, because what has happened to him, because where they are now, because of the blend, and often these values and these beliefs that we talked about initially, they come from their parents, from their teachers, from their friends, from their peers and sometimes even noted in first place.
Valerie: We just like that. Guess, like when you think like eight years old. We are just absorbing all this stuff.
Trish Patton: We just absorbed like a sponge and their transformational coaching does actually questions all their stuff that this may be errors, but may be wasn¢â‚¬â„¢t errors and in the similar work place, if you can get teams just or people just to accept and not take offense. If you could get rid of that emotion, then business is going well done.
Valerie: Some people, like if they identify themselves like when people they walk in their room, people run on like unless you don¢â‚¬â„¢t scatter off, because, you know, because they said they are very angry and I would keep away from this anger, but you know they did find themselves.
Trish Patton: When you say found it and I didn¢â‚¬â„¢t, it is another huge thing. We build up identity according to how people see us. We have got identity to being and if we have gone through to change some of your fillers, we couldn¢â‚¬â„¢t change our identity as well. So, also a part of the translation process is you are changing your behavior therefore to them that¢â‚¬â„¢s not the same mind anymore. So you are changing your identity.
Valerie: I see you, I do this change and I say I am comfortable with this change, I have changed my identity then I see somebody that I have known for ages and I haven¢â‚¬â„¢t seen them then they have this expectation, oh my god, you need to react this way, and then they build this peer pressure that we need to act the old way.
Trish Patton: Only if you are alone and what you see they will definitely note some difference in you because they¢â‚¬â„¢ve become to realize that Valerie behaves in this manner and when you are changing because you want better results, you want to change your results. You want to get from your voice, wanted to hear that something is sticking you there.
Valerie: Yeah.
Trish Patton: You got to change something because you are ain¢â‚¬â„¢t going to get the same if nothing changes. So, therefore people will notice a change in you and they might then decide I don¢â‚¬â„¢t like this change or I do like this change?
Valerie: So, I guess with companies when you work with companies and organizations do you start from the top floor?
Trish Patton: Well everything is still attained by the top, that¢â‚¬â„¢s where the company culture comes in and I honestly prefer to work with the leader. Because there can be blockages during the line. The leader is where the vision comes from and if you got a vision and it is truly wide horn and recognized therefore it is time. so, the leaders are replaced.
Valerie: So, are the companies open to this?
Trish Patton: Oh, definitely.
Valerie: And there is absolutely there is a lot of evidence to show that come in and do this for work.
Trish Patton: Most of the Fortune 500 companies, have got transformational coaches
Valerie: Oh, they are part of the team.
Trish Patton: On the books, all the course actually have the transformational coaches actually just follow them around and even many of them and shattered them, so that they can get honest, tangible feedback on their behavior because these guys want to get better and better.
Valerie: Wow
Trish Patton: So, transformational coach is about taking somebody that is already good and making them fantastic and phenomenal.
Valerie: Wow! Oh it is like having a personal coach, but it is a head coach.
Trish Patton: Well coaching as they see it and begin it, it is just to take one person from where they are now to where they actually want to be and just assisting them without jamming and seeing the positive results.
Valerie: Yeah, Trish thank you very much it has been very interesting.
Trish Patton: Thank You!
Valerie: Everyone you have been watching humber.tv is head to toes. We just talked to Trish about she said to a garbage collective stinking thinking, which is an important part of life and we will talk to you soon.
